Next Job
Vacancies
Since its beginnings in the early 1980s,
Next has grown into one of the most successful and familiar
stores in the High Streets and Shopping Malls of the United
Kingdom. More recently, this has been supplemented by the
development of the flourishing Next Directory.
With its Head Office and Call Centres in and
around Leicester and over 450 stores across Britain and
Ireland, there are many varied occupational opportunities in
this company, which is always associated with style, quality,
innovation and creativity. Next job vacancies are constantly
searching for employees who can combine their skills and
experience with dedication, enthusiasm and focus.
Next are proud of their commitment to both
their customers and their staff and of the energy and
dedication of their management. There are always opportunities
for people who have a flair for planning and getting things
done - as store managers and assistant managers, commercial
managers, operations managers, sales, stockroom and office
managers and supervisors. There are, in addition, frequent
opportunities for sales and stockroom assistants, especially
for those people who can adopt a flexible approach to their
working hours.
In addition to a competitive starting
salary, Next workers in the stores can anticipate both a
clothing allowance and generous bonuses as well as a whopping
25% discount on the majority of Next products. There is also
the chance to subscribe to a subsidised healthcare scheme and a
savings related share option scheme and various pensions, as
well as free life assurance.
There are upwards of 1900 people employed at
the Next Head Offices in Leicester, managing the systems and
processes for the stores and the Next Directory. There are
opportunities to work in the areas of Buying, Design,
Merchandising, Technology, Finance, Systems, Display and
Administration. The Next website, at www.next.co.uk has a
detailed section under the heading of careers, which includes
an online brochure entitled Living in Leicester to give more
information about the Head Office and the Call Centres at
nearby Enderby and Evington. At the Call Centres there is a
variety of full and, predominantly, part-time work
available.
Distribution Staff and warehouse operatives
are also required to maintain the network of 11 different
distribution sites across the country, and this obviously
includes a large number of drivers for the increasing fleet of
Next vehicles.
Next has a thriving graduate recruitment
scheme, explained in detail on their website. Between 75
and 80 trainees are recruited, as graduates, each year to work
in the buying, merchandising, technology and design areas of
the company. The programme is based at the Leicester site and
is generally an 18 month plan, although a few of the placements
are for 12 months. Next maintain that the ‘passion and
commitment’ of an applicant is more important for acceptance on
the Trainee scheme than the subject studied at degree level.
Permanent Trainee positions offer a starting salary of £18,500
per year.
Those people interested in a career with
Next can apply Online or by telephone application. Both of
these methods , if the applicant is considered to be suitable
for further consideration, will result in a telephone interview
being arranged; the successful completion of this would then be
followed by a face-to-face interview.
